The Ahrens began helping homeless individuals that they would see around their community. They utilized couponing to help make up care bags to hand out to those they passed on the street. By 2014, The couple built several bonds throughout the displaced community, helping individuals buy clothes, food and even transporting to doctor’s appointments. They used that opportunity to feed, minister and expand their outreach into the camps or “tent cities” in the greater Gaston County area.In Fall 2020, they partnered with friends and leaders of Connections Church in Belmont, NC and became Displaced Roses. In Spring 2021, they passed the leadership of Displaced Roses on as they continue to go and move as God calls them to do. What started out as a calling placed on their hearts by the Lord, has and is continuing to grow.
