Displaced Roses is a Christ-led homeless outreach ministry that serves unhoused individuals living on the streets of Gaston County. This ministry (with the help of volunteers) feeds, clothes and gives basic essentials out weekly; but most importantly, we provide hope to the many that have lost it. God’s word compels us as Christians to love and help others, especially with the resources we have:
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
But also, his word reminds us of what his son, Jesus Christ, endured to be a living beacon for souls to follow. As a ministry we reflect on how Jesus had no home to call his own while doing his Father’s work. Jesus even describes these woes he endured and how we, even now, can continue to be of service:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me … Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”
Matthew 25:35-36, 40
Building relationships and showing (not just telling) the love of Jesus, will always be the driving force of this homeless outreach ministry. Please join us as we work to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world that needs God’s love more than ever.
